INT’L WORKSHOP ON ENLIGHTENED MODERATION ENDS IN ISLAMABAD

An int’l seminar on “OIC Challenge, Response and Enlightened Moderation” attended by Organization of Islamic Conference member-states took place in Islamabad, embassy of Azerbaijan to Pakistan told AzerTAj. The seminar was based on the President of Pakistan Pervez Musharraf’s initiative of enlightened moderation. To realize this initiative it was decided to form a Committee of Outstanding Persons consisted of representatives of OIC members. The Committee will present its recommendations to the upcoming 31st sitting of Foreign Ministers of OIC member-states to be held in Islamabad in June.

President Pervez Musharraf addressed the seminar and urged the Eastern and Western states to realize the strategy of enlightened moderation and maintain international peace and stability.

It was stressed that the seminar that OIC countries had not established regional economic cooperation and trade links. Seminar participants suggested OIC member-states to create 6-7 regional blocs developing trade links to further create a common Islamic Bloc.

50 scholars from 40 OIC member-states attended this event. President of the International Ecoenergy Academy, professor of the Azerbaijan University of Architecture and Construction Fagan Aliyev addressed the seminar. Ambassador of Azerbaijan to Pakistan Eynulla Madatli was also present at the seminar.
