JOSE LUIS RODRIGUEZ ZAPATERO - SPAIN'S NEW PRIME MINISTER

According to the information received by AzerTAj, the Parliament of Spain backed appointment of Jose Luis Rodriguez Zapatero as Spain's new Prime Minister. 183 deputies of the lower house of General Cortes (parliament) voted for, while 148 –against, and 19 were abstainers.

On 17 April, Jose Luis Rodriguez Zapatero took his oath before the head of the State of Spain King Juan Carlos. On the same day, he presented staff of his government.

On Monday, the government will have its first sitting. To this end, on 22 April, the parliament of Spain will hold a solemn session also to be attended by the King.
