LATIF KARIMOV’S 100TH ANNIVERSARY MARKED AT UNESCO HEADQUARTERS
The 4th International symposium titled “Azerbaijan’s art of carpet-making” was held at the UNESCO headquarters in Paris to mark the 100th anniversary of Azerbaijan’s prominent carpet weaver Latif Karimov.
The list of guests included UNESCO officials, Azerbaijan’s Minister of Culture and Tourism, Azerbaijan Ambassador in Paris, Azerbaijan’s envoy to UNESCO and French senators, as well as a number of academicians from Azerbaijan, the USA, Great Britain, Italy, Russia, Hungary, Turkey, Iran and Germany.
Latif Karimov’s role in making the Azerbaijan art of carpet-making known to the world was highly praised by those speaking.
The gathered then saw a documentary film about the Azerbaijan carpet weaver.
The symposium continued with a large exhibition titled “Azerbaijan carpet” featuring various carpets made by Karimov.
