Lesson on Azerbaijan held at Israeli school
Baku, January 21 (AZERTAC). In one of the northern cities of Israel, in the city of Acre, where there are many people from Azerbaijan, a lesson dedicated to the Republic of Azerbaijan was held at the school “Tomer”. The initiator of this project was an Israeli teacher Smadar Znati and the first class grade, six year old Aviel Gut.
Aviel Gut addressed his father Arye Gut for assistance in this initiative. Arye Gut is an Israeli political scientist and board member of the International Association “Israel-Azerbaijan”, who supported this idea with a great pleasure. “When my son addressed me with this idea, I was shocked, because my son was born in Israel, speaks Russian and Hebrew but has never been to Azerbaijan, however, he demonstrates a great love and tenderness towards the homeland of his father and granddad. I think my son's idea can be a good example of propaganda of Azerbaijan around the world. And I considered it an honor to tell the Israeli first-formers about Azerbaijan. I think we made a history by holding the first lesson about Azerbaijan at an Israeli school", Gut said.
During the two-hour lesson Arye Gut spoke in detail about the history of the state flag and anthem of Azerbaijan, with watching videos and photos of Azerbaijan. It was especially noted that Azerbaijan is an ancient tolerant country where the Jewish community coexists peacefully with the Azerbaijani people. The photos of the old Jewish Synagogue in Baku, as well as new Synagogues built thanks to the efforts of the Azerbaijani leadership were demonstrated.
All the same, the Israeli pupils had an opportunity to draw the state flag of Azerbaijan, which was done by the majority of pupils on a very good level. The guys tried hard to draw the flag and pronounce the word “Azerbaijan”.
Israeli teacher Smadar said that holding a lesson on Azerbaijan was a very interesting and invaluable event. "Frankly speaking, the lesson about Azerbaijan was extremely interesting. More than 150 pupils and many teachers came to listen to the lesson. There are many people from Azerbaijan here in Akko but frankly speaking thanks to Aviel's initiative, such a wonderful country as Azerbaijan became completely new to me. Not only pupils but also many school teachers discovered Azerbaijan within these two hours of the lesson that Arye Gut held about Azerbaijan. I hoped for success but success was extremely great. We have good ties and opportunities for cooperation. I am ready to hold lessons about Azerbaijan more frequently, even once a month for us to learn more about this hospitable people who consider Jews as their true brothers", Smadar said.
A dance which is considered a cultural heritage of Azerbaijan - was performed by the initiator of the lesson Aviel Gut with the supervision of famous Israeli dancer, Azerbaijani native Orkhan Karibov.
