M. MARGELOV: AZERBAIJAN’S LEADERSHIP PURSUING VERY SUBTLE AND WEIGHTY POLICY
The current relationship between Azerbaijan and Russia bears very positive character that concerns relations between the two countries’ both executive and legislative bodies, said Chairman of the Committee for International Affairs of the RF Council of Federations Mikhail Margelov in his interview to AzerTAj Moscow-based reporter. In is opinion, the existing level of cooperation in business, cultural and humanitarian spheres, and that of communication between the two peoples indicates that the parties has firmly established the their relations. He further said: I think we have sustainable growth in all spheres that is largely based on the fact that the Azerbaijan’s leadership is pursuing very subtle and weighty policy. Considering the unique geo-strategic situation of your Republic as a European power, Caucasian power, and secular power in the Islamic World, at finally, the power located in very complicated region, I have to admit that Azerbaijan has been demonstrating a unique stability for many yeas, and think the prospects of the Russia-Azerbaijan cooperation are very good.
The Chairman noted as well that the personal links of the two presidents have also a very positive impact on the interstate relations. It is a great plus, he said. Mr. Margelov also expressed great satisfaction with the cooperation existing between the two countries’ parliaments, and their delegations to the Council of Europe.
He finally stated that the trusting relations between Azerbaijan and Russia have a stabilizing effect on the general situation in the Caucasus.
