Marrakesh hosts Fourth Security Forum
Baku, January 28 (AZERTAC). The 4th Marrakech Security Forum, an event held this year under the theme "Impact and perspectives on the crisis in the Sahel regional and international security," opened Friday in Marrakech, with the participation of more 150 security and military officials as well as experts from some sixty countries around the world.
Organized in partnership with the Moroccan Centre for Strategic Studies (CMES), this forum is attended by senior military and security, political figures and experts from countries in Africa, Europe, America and Asia.
Deputy Director of the Center for Strategic Studies under President of Azerbaijan Gulshan Pashayeva and country`s Counsellor of the Embassy in Marrakesh attended the forum.
Gulshan Pashayeva delivered a report on “Armenia-Azerbaijan, Nagorno-Karabakh conflict and ways of solving of this conflict”. Mrs. Pashayeva briefed the participants on essence of the conflict, the heavy results of Armenian aggression policy, as well as Azerbaijan`s just position on solving of this issue.
Gulshan Pashayeva has met President of the African Federation for Strategic Studies Mohamed Benhamou.
They stressed the importance of cooperation and exchanged views on development prospects of the relations.
Mrs. Pashayeva has also met Heads of Think Tanks from Turkey, Tunis, Aljazeera, Nigeria and Bangladesh.
Considered the largest international meeting on security in Africa, this annual conference is a space for the exchange of expertise and debate on strategic issues, organizers said, noting that the meeting can not hide this new geostrategic and geopolitics and its impact on the regional stability and international security.
"The Sahel - Saharan arc sinks into its crises. Dangers of lawless spaces and struggles and the reconstruction of areas affected represent a risk of disorder and territorial decay in the Sahel", they said, observing that "changes in the regional context are carriers of mutations and geostrategic challenge which are the elements that have shaped the geopolitical balance in the region."
The Sahel known logics geopolitical, regional and international contradictory, especially since this area saw a number of risks and threats, exacerbated by the recent crisis in Mali and the presence of armed groups.
