MEETING AT THE CABINET OF MINISTERS
Greeting the guests, the Prime Minister noted that the Government of Azerbaijan is satisfied with the cooperation between JSC Azerenergy and JSC UES of Russia. Azerbaijan is interested in Russian company’s experience in collection of payments for electricity use, Mr. Rasizadeh said.
Speaking of the development of energy system in Azerbaijan, the Prime Minister pointed out that credits granted under preferential terms by the Government of Japan had allowed to start construction of gas-turbine power stations in the country. One of such stations has already been finished, and we are going to continue building in future.
Touching upon regional cooperation in the sphere of power industry, Mr. Rasizadeh noted although Azerbaijan is very interested in its development, it is hampered by aggressive policy of Armenia, which had occupied 20% of Azerbaijan’s territories.
Having thanked the Prime Minister for the warm meeting, the Chief of JSC Unified Energy System of Russia noted that despite it is his first visit to Azerbaijan, he once managed to meet during an international forum with President Heydar Aliyev, who had told him of the ways of development of the country’s economy, power industry in particular. Today, Mr. Chubays said, many of Heydar Aliyev’s plans are becoming reality, he said.
Anatoliy Chubays also expressed satisfaction with the level of cooperation with Azerbaijan, and said that there are very favorable conditions for further realization of mutually beneficial projects.
Present at the meeting were First Vice-Premier Yagub Eyyubov and Ambassador of Russia to Azerbaijan Nikolay Ryabov.
