MEETINGS AND SIGNING CEREMONY HELD IN FOREIGN MINISTRY
As was informed to the correspondent of AzerTAj in the press center of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, having expressed gratitude for warm reception, Mehdi Safari has emphasized, that relations between Iran and Azerbaijan have historical roots, and has transferred greetings and invitation of the Minister of Foreign Affairs of his country Kamal Kharrazi to his Azerbaijani colleague.
Having noted, that during visit of our national leader Heydar Aliyev to Teheran, the important documents concerning mutual relations have been signed, Mehdi Safari has noted the necessity of joint efforts and in the field of realization of some economic projects, saying that certain work has been done for realization of four projects in the field of power.
Positively having estimated trade and commodity circulation between the two countries, the visitor has noted importance of conclusion of the agreement on elimination of the double taxation. Having noted that gas supply of Nakhchivan will be realized, since winter of the next year, the Iranian diplomat has emphasized importance of realization of a number of works for construction of Astara-Julfa Bridge.
Minister of Foreign Affairs Elmar Mammadyarov has especially noted, that the work, which is put into practice between Azerbaijan and Iran in a number of important branches, including in realization of the specified projects in economic sphere, is worthy of attention. Having emphasized, that the highway Astara-Baku also has great value, the Minister has stated that efforts of Iran on realization connected with Nakhchivan projects are perceived positively. Highly having estimated the five-sided meeting carried out recently in Baku connected to the Caspian legal status, and the meeting of Ministers of Foreign Affairs in Moscow, Minister Elmar Mammadyarov has especially noted, that the Caspian is the sea of peace and friendship, has regarded rapprochement of positions in this area on some questions as the important step and has emphasized necessity of continuation of negotiations in bilateral and multilateral formats.

The same day, Minister of Foreign Affairs of Azerbaijan Elmar Mammadyarov has met representative of the International Committee of the Red Cross of in Baku Ms. Hlin Baldvinsdottir.
Having thanked for warm reception and having informed that she works in our country as the head of representation of the International Committee of the Red Cross since January, Ms. Hlin Baldvinsdottir has stated that in the further activity she would not regret efforts within the framework of the powers given to her. The head of representation informed that during visit of regional director of the International Committee of the Red Cross on questions of America and Europe Ms. Mezh Van Rogue in our country has been handed to the Azerbaijan side the list of the persons who were missed during the Armenian-Azerbaijan, Nagorny Karabakh conflict, has expressed hope, that in this question important for our republic, concrete results would be achieved.
She also has told that existing difficulties for visiting occupied territories here are taken into account. Having noted, that ICRC has conducted a number of seminars in Azerbaijan in the field of the international humanitarian right, Ms. Hlin Baldvinsdottir has informed the Minister that closely cooperates with the Ministries of defense, public health, labor and social security of the population and others.
Minister of Foreign Affairs Elmar Mammadyarov has wished successes to Ms. Hlin Baldvinsdottir during her activity, has emphasized importance of activation of the ICRC efforts in finding-out of the further destiny and search of persons, missing as a result of the conflict. The Minister has emphasized, that for acceleration of work in this direction it is necessary to make the list, in particular, connected with definition of whereabouts of the missing persons.
Having touched the question of making efforts as well as by the Armenian side in the questions connected to the missing persons, she has noted importance of creation by them of conditions for ICRC. And as to carrying out of seminars in the field of the international humanitarian right, the Minister has emphasized necessity of adjustment of close cooperation with a number of the ministries in this area.
At the meeting, also discussed were issues representing mutual interest.

On the same day, ceremony of signing has taken place in the Ministry on behalf of the Republic of Uzbekistan “Protocol on amendments the “Basic multilateral agreement on development of the international transport corridor Europe – Caucasus -Asia”.
Minister of Foreign Affairs of Azerbaijan Republic Elmar Mammadyarov and the ambassador of the Republic of Uzbekistan in our country Abdugafur Anbdurrahmanov signed the document.
