MEMBER OF DELEGATION OF AZERBAIJAN PREPARED DOCUMENT CONNECTED WITH SHUSHA
In the document it is stated: “The cultural heritage is one of the areas to which in the most mass form underwent huge damage on 20 percents of territory of Azerbaijan occupied by Armenia. In spite of the fact that in this connection in the Council of Europe the question repeatedly rose and corresponding documents have been prepared, unfortunately, appreciable positive results are not present. During last period, serious concern is caused with regular destruction of historical and cultural monuments in the Azerbaijan city of Shusha which is under occupation, and there is a necessity of acceptance of the most serious measures to rescue this city being as a whole a historical monument.
The city of Shusha considered as one of the cultural capitals of Azerbaijan and named “a conservatory of the Caucasus”, on riches of monuments, on the decision of the government of Azerbaijan has received the status of city - reserve. The significant part of historical and cultural monuments in this city was included in the register of monuments of Azerbaijan and world value. The majority of Shusha monuments is already destroyed or collapsed. Historical and cultural monuments have been destroyed, and on their place restaurants and other commercial objects are under construction. The house of outstanding Azerbaijan poetess of the Х1Х century Khurshud Banu Natavan, the mosque Govhar Aga considered remarkable cultural and historical monument and pearls of East architecture and symbol of Shusha have been destroyed.
The house of the outstanding musicologist and artist of the Х1Х century Mohsun Navvab in which walls have been decorated with unique samples of art has been destroyed. The majority of great musicians of Azerbaijan were natives of Shusha, and in this city their museums - apartments, their houses being valuable samples of architecture have been plundered, also have been changed into ruins. As a result of spent with special intensity of destructive activity the real history and cultural shape of Shusha are on the verge of disappearance.

Accepted by the registration office of Parliamentary Assembly, the document will be issued for distribution and directed to the Committee of Ministers for discussion. After the corresponding answer of the Cabinet of PACE, connected with the accepted measures, the document together with the answer will be issued again.
