Members of European Parliament visit Azerbaijan`s Ministry of Industry and Energy
Baku, July 14 (AZERTAC). A delegation of European Parliament`s members visited Saturday the Ministry of Industry and Energy of Azerbaijan.
Deputy minister Natig Abbasov briefed the delegation at the meeting achievements made in Azerbaijan in economic sphere in recent years.
Abbasov stressed the role of his country in energy security of Europe. He noted Azerbaijan`s gas reserves make up 2, 6 trillion cubic meters. The deputy minister pointed out one of priorities of the country was diversification of energy transportation routes. He added the construction of the Baku-Tbilisi-Ceyhan pipeline, connecting Caspian and the Mediterranean seas was one of great achievements in Azerbaijan`s energy history. “Another accomplishment in this direction is construction of the Couth Caucasus gas pipeline.”
Abbasov said the Trans AdriaticPipeline chosen by Azerbaijan would change Europe`s energy map and open new opportunities for cooperation.
The MEPs called Azerbaijan a reliable partner of Europe. They said Azerbaijan`s diversifying its supply routes to Europe would contribute to energy security of the continent.
