OANA Executive Board Meeting is underway in Korea VIDEO

The 39th Organization of Asia-Pacific News Agencies (OANA) Executive Board Meeting has started in Seoul, Korea.
The 39th OANA Executive Board Meeting will run for two days at the head office of Yonhap News Agency, South Korea's top news wire.
The event brought together heads of Turkish Anadolu, Russian TASS, Japanese Kyodo, Chinese Xinhua, Korean Yonhap, British Press Association, Indonesian Antara, Bahraini BNA news agencies, as well as about 50 representatives from 23 news agencies. Director General of AZERTAC, OANA Vice-president Aslan Aslanov has also attended the event.
Prior to the meeting, the participants viewed the photo exhibition in the building of Yonhap News Agency. Photos of AZERTAC were on a display at the exhibition. The exhibition also featured a promo about the activities of each news agency.
"The mobile era is changing the way people consume news," Yonhap CEO Park No-hwang said at the opening ceremony. "This meeting is a forum for us to discuss ways to remain forerunners in media through cooperation." "OANA opens wide opportunities for comprehensive cooperation among the member agencies," he added.
Director General of the Russian news agency TASS, OANA president Sergey Mikhailov provided an insight into progress achieved during his chair to the Organization.
President of the European Alliance of News Agencies (EANA) and Chief Executive Officer of British Press Association Clive Marshall, highlighted an agreement on cooperation between EANA and OANA, saying, "it opens wide opportunities for cooperation among the member agencies."
The event then featured a reception in honour of the participants. The reception saw speeches by Vice Foreign Minister of Korea Lim Sung-nam, Japanese Kyodo News President Masaki Fukuyama.
OANA was launched in 1961 as a major network of regional news agencies. Its members consist of 43 news agencies from 35 countries.
