Operetta “Arshin mal alan” by great Uzeyir Hajibeyli conquers Ankara
Baku, October 28 (AZERTAC). On its 100th anniversary, the premiere of the musical comedy Arshin mal alan (The Cloth Peddler), by great Azerbaijani composer Uzeyir Hajibeyli, has been held at Ankara State Opera and Ballet Theatre.
The operetta was played to a full house at the opera stage of Ankara State Museum of Paintings and Sculptures, which is a center of art where the most outstanding works of the artists who played important roles in the development of Turkish Painting and Sculpture Arts are exhibited.
Prepared and staged by honored artist of Azerbaijan Hafiz Guliyev, the premiere brought together representatives of the Turkish society, Azerbaijani diplomats and Azerbaijanis living there. Azerbaijani ambassador to Turkey Faig Bagirov was also present.
The band master of performance was Turkish Mustafa Ardogan who conducted the orchestra of Ankara State Opera and Ballet Theatre.
The main roles were performed by Dolun Erdener as Gulchohra and Emrah Sozer as Asgar respectively.
The audience enjoyed this comic and romantic story of love full of songs and humor for about two hours. The performance received a standing ovation.
