OSCE, COE, EUROPEAN COMMISSION PRESENT ASSISTANCE PLANS FOR AZERBAIJAN ELECTION
Head of the OSCE Baku Office Jose Luis Herrero Ansola, Special Representative of the Secretary General of the Council of Europe in Azerbaijan Denis Bribosia and Head of the European Commission`s Office Alan Waddams have today presented plans for assisting the Republic of Azerbaijan in preparing for the 15 October presidential election.
“We are to put in place the necessary measures to guarantee and electoral process in line with international standards, but a serious effort has to be by all the actors concerned. We are ready to support this effort” said representatives of international organizations.
Head of the OSCE Baku Office Ansola said all three organizations have a clear vision of the pre-election situation in Azerbaijan.
“We are convinced that Azerbaijan can hold elections in line with international standards. We are going to assist you country,” he said
Denis Bribosia said, international organizations plan to hold trainings on legislating and administrative requirements at the local level, organize conferences with participation of media and heads of media outlets, prepare programs on TV. He noted international organizations closely work with Azerbaijan with respect to election code and law on freedom of assembly.
Head of the EC office in Azerbaijan Waddams said the three organizations do not intend to interfere in Azerbaijan`s affairs. They just want to help Azerbaijan to achieve its own aspirations.
