Poland to announce new cabinet composition shortly after November 12
Baku, October 24, AZERTAC
The Polish government will present a new cabinet line-up shortly after the inaugural sitting of Poland's new parliament, scheduled for November 12, Deputy Prime Minister Jacek Sasin told public radio on Wednesday.
“I am not able to give the exact date at the moment, but I also don't think that we will in any way hold up the start of the new government. We have the commitments we have made to Poles, including those for the first 100 days of the new parliament, and we are determined to keep our promises,” the minister said.
He added that the leaders of the United Right coalition, comprising the ruling Law and Justice (PiS) party, Solidary Poland and Agreement, will discuss both the structure of the new government and the specific line-up of personnel including the heads of individual ministries. He added that Mateusz Morawiecki would remain the prime minister.
In line with the Polish Constitution, during the first sitting, the prime minister shall submit his resignation. The president will nominate a new prime minister, which can be the same person, who shall then propose the composition of his cabinet. The president will, within 14 days of the first sitting of the Sejm, appoint a PM together with other cabinet members.
Within 14 days of his appointment, the prime minister shall submit a programme of activity of the Council of Ministers to the Sejm (lower house), together with a motion requiring a vote of confidence, which the Sejm must pass by an absolute majority in the presence of at least half the statutory number of deputies.
