POVERTY REDUCTION AND EMPLOYMENT PROBLEMS DISCUSSED I N AZERBAIJAN

As informs AzerTAj, on April 28, national seminar on the theme “Programs on increase in vital incomes and rate of employment level for reduction of poverty in Azerbaijan”, was conducted at the Center of Economic Reforms of the ministry of economic development together with the UN economic and social commission on Asia and Pacific Ocean (UNESCAP).

Opening the seminar with participation of local and foreign scientists - economists, leading experts, representatives of corresponding state bodies, public organizations, director of the Center of Economic Reforms Rahim Huseynov has noted realization in our country of the state programs connected to a range of important questions to be discussed in the frame of the said programs. He said that studying the ways of solution of the mentioned problems causes interest in many countries and represents value for our country.

Representative of the Economic and social commission of the United Nations for Asia and Pacific Ocean Eugenie Herman spoke of the programs carried out in a number of the countries and the measures connected to poverty reduction.

The employee of poverty and development department on economic affairs of UNESCAP Mohammed Malik has told about experience of the countries of Asia and Pacific Ocean in the field of poverty reduction and increase of employment level, has in detail dwelt on the reasons of occurrence of poverty and ways of its liquidation.

Then, speaking was the expert of the estimation and monitoring of poverty department of the Institute of economic researches of Malaysia Shankaran Nambiara, representative of the ministry of economic development Elnur Abbaszadeh, who touched some aspects of poverty reduction struggle.

At the seminar, also it was spoken about the measures, which are carried out in Azerbaijan with a view of liquidation of poverty and unemployment, and the mechanism of their realization. It has been marked, that the conducted monitoring testifies to gradual reduction of poverty level in our country. Participants of the workshop also have familiarized with detailed information concerning reduction of poverty in Vietnam and China. Also have been mentioned the questions of the place and tasks of trade unions in settlement of the poverty problem in Azerbaijan.

On April 29, the seminar will continue its work.
