PRESIDENT: 840,000 JOBS CREATED IN AZERBAIJAN IN LAST SIX YEARS
Baku, January 19 (AZERTAC). President of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev said 840,000 jobs had been created in the country over the past six years.
Speaking to a Cabinet meeting on socio-economic achievements in 2009, the President said “the last year alone saw creation of 74,000 jobs”.
“We`ve almost solved all issues with respect to unemployment.”
The President also praised the country`s anti-poverty policy.
“Six years ago almost 50 percent of the Azerbaijani population lived in poverty, and we managed to considerably decrease the poverty level. In 2009 it fell from 13.2 to 11 percent.”
“It is an extremely good job, and it proves that Azerbaijan`s government took serious measures to fight against poverty even in the year of crisis,” said the Azerbaijani leader.
