PRESIDENT ILHAM ALIYEV’S WORDS “OUR STRENGTH - IN UNITY” IMPRESS TURKEY

The official visit of President of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev to Turkey has been well covered and positively assessed by the Turkish media. Political correspondents and political scientists describe the visit as a historical event that will have an impact not only on the relationship between the two countries but also on the future of the region. Turkish journalists placed President Ilham Aliyev’s words “Our strength is in unity” on front-pages. They say that this expression will be a slogan of the whole Turkic world and flag of nationwide leader of Azerbaijan, great son of the Turkic world, outstanding political figure Heydar Aliyev is in reliable hands.

Private Turkish TV channels let the audience know on President Ilham Aliyev’s statements in the creeping lines. It may be said that all the newspapers published photos of President Ilham Aliyev with headlines “Here is the example of fraternity”(“Turkiye”), “Azerbaijan’s ahead” (“Milliyet”), “Brotherly support” (“Star”), “Ilham Aliyev supports Turkey” (“Radical”), “Ilham Aliyev makes his first statement” (“Zaman”).

It was emphasized that President of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev’s statement on Cyprus issue followed the statements made by some countries including UN and European Union made from almost the same stance. Turkish journalists, however, stress that the first step was made by friendly and fraternal Azerbaijan and it will never be forgotten. Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minster of Turkey Abdullah Gul and leader of Cyprian Turks Rauf Denktash expressed deep gratitude to President Ilham Aliyev for the historical, brave and vitally important statement.

Irrespective of their views, Turkish political correspondents, columnists, journalists have the same opinion: with his political experience, outlook, steadfast and brave decisions President Ilham Aliyev gained the respect and affection of Turkish people. Meeting during the period of Mehriban Khanum’s visit produced an impression on everyone.

Famous writer-publicist, expert in Azerbaijan Irfan Ulku shared his impressions on the visit with AzerTAj correspondent: “This is very important visit. It is said in every house. Great Heydar Aliyev’s legend continues. However, the soul this genius personality got glad anyway. Azerbaijan is extremely important and strategic force of the region. In the course of the visit, this fact was once more acknowledged.

Armenia occupied 20 percent of Azerbaijani territories. However, look, this country is in such a situation that its citizens leave it. The situation in the country is on the brink of social collapse. These are results of inestimable efforts, sleepless nights and effective policy of Heydar Aliyev! May Allah rest his soul in peace!”
