PRESIDENT OF IRAN MET BUSINESSMEN AND REPRESENTATIVES OF IRANIAN COMMUNITY IN AZERBAIJAN
Ruslan Gasimov, Azerbaijani native, who took the fourth place at the reading of Koran world contests, read a sura from the holy book of Islam.
Chief of department of the Cultural Center of Iran in Baku Mohammad Rza Pakiravan spoke of the friendship of Iranian and Azerbaijani peoples, expressed hope that president Khatami’s visit would promote the bilateral relations.
In his remarks, ambassador of Iran to Azerbaijan Republic stated that the current visit of Iran President would open a new stage in bilateral relations of the fraternal peoples. The trade turnover between the two countries has reached 650 million US dollars, he reminded.
Speaking in the meeting, President of Iran said that the businessmen of Iran working here try to strengthen the traditional and historical ties between the two nations.
Noting that the peoples of Iran and Azerbaijan have the same religious and cultural values, President Mohammad Khatamai said the common historical and geographical roots have cemented bilateral relations between the two states. The current situation in world urges for rapprochement, he underlined.
Every country aspiring for development, should ensure its security and Iran and Azerbaijan must help each other and in this way ensure their safety and stability.
President of Iran expressed gratitude to the Head of Azerbaijan State for attention for the Iranian citizens working here.
The meeting ended in a concert of masters of art.
