President of Uzbekistan ratifies treaty on allied relations with Azerbaijan

Baku, May 22, AZERTAC
President of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev has signed a law ratifying the Treaty on Allied Relations between the Republic of Uzbekistan and the Republic of Azerbaijan, according to Uzbekistan Daily (Uz Daily).
The treaty was originally signed on 23 August 2024, in Tashkent during the state visit of Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev.
The agreement marks a new chapter in bilateral relations, aiming to further strengthen the two countries’ independence, sovereignty, territorial integrity, and sustainable economic growth. It outlines mutual commitments, including a pledge not to join blocs or alliances directed against one another, and to refrain from any actions that could harm their strategic partnership and allied relations.
Legislative ratification of the treaty is expected to significantly deepen mutual trust, reinforce friendly ties, and elevate the level of strategic cooperation between Uzbekistan and Azerbaijan. It also paves the way for expanded political engagement, increased trade and economic collaboration, and enhanced cultural and humanitarian exchanges.
The treaty creates favorable conditions for the development of joint initiatives and deeper regional cooperation in key areas such as logistics, energy, industry, education, and tourism.
