Record-breaking Russians dominate final night of Swimming

Russia won eight of the 11 gold medals in the final session of the European Games Swimming competition to press home their superiority in the pool at Baku 2015.
There was individual Russian delight too for Polina Egorova, who took her fifth and sixth golds, while Maria Astashkina won her fourth and Arina Openysheva her seventh - making her the most decorated Russian across the Games.
There was also another Russian world junior record but this time it was Anton Chupkov in the men's 100m breaststroke outshining his compatriot Daniil Pakhomov, who did not manage to improve on the record he broke two times on Friday in the 100m butterfly.
Egorova was in third position at the turn in the women's 100m backstroke final but fought her way back to win in 1:01.19 seconds, and then repeated the feat in the 50m butterfly.
"I am very happy. I imagined I could take a gold in the main distance but I didn't imagine this result," said Egorova after adding her preferred 50m butterfly to the 100m backstroke gold.
