REGIONAL DIRECTOR OF UN POPULATION FUND TO ARRIVE IN BAKU

Representative of the UN’s Population Fund in Turkey, Regional Director for Azerbaijan, Georgia and Armenia Anne-Brigitte Albrektsen will stay in Azerbaijan on 23-28 August.

Reportedly, the Fund jointly with the Ministries of Health, Education and Labor and Social Protection of Population, and State Statistics Committee has realized number of projects in Azerbaijan assisting the country’s government in providing the population with reproductive medical service, and in strengthening organizational and technical skills of the governmental organizations to gather and analyze information on the population and development, as well as including gender issues in the development plan.

Involvement of Mrs. Anne-Brigitte Albrektsen in solution to these issues will contribute to UN PF’s efforts to define the direction and spheres of its activity in Azerbaijan in 2005-2009, and to cooperation with local partners.

She is expected to meet with Azerbaijan officials, UN PF’s partner Organizations to discuss development of bilateral relations.
