REPRESENTATIVES OF AZERBAIJAN PARTICIPATE IN CAIRO CONFERENCE

An International conference initiated by the Egyptian Council for Islamic Affairs on the theme “Tolerance in Islamic Civilization” was held in Cairo. The event gathered representatives of 65 countries, was attended by Chairman of the Caucasian Moslems Clerical Office Sheik ul-Islam Allahshukur Pashazadeh and Dean of Theology Faculty at the Baku State University, correspondent member of the National Academy of Science, Prof. Vasim Mammadaliyev, as well.

The conference participants discussed important problems of the Islamic World including place and role of Islam in the world, in ensuring peace, stability security between the civilizations, as well as significance of tolerance in the Islam civilization, conducting dialogue between various religions and necessity of cooperation between Islamic states in the sphere of religion.

Addressing the conference, Sheik ul-Islam Allahshukur Pashazadeh and Prof. Vasim Mammadaliyev informed the event’s participants on the aggressive policy of Armenia, occupation by the country of 20% of Azerbaijani territories. They also updated the audience on achievements of Azerbaijan Republic under the leadership of Heydar Aliyev.

During bilateral meetings with heads of delegations of Islamic countries, the parties discussed expanding cooperation in the sphere of religion between Azerbaijan and these countries.

In conclusion, Mr. Allahshukur Pashazadeh and Prof. Vasim Mammadaliyev gave interviews to local mass media.
