Rome hosts conference on Azerbaijan
Baku,February 1 (AZERTAC). A conference titled “Azerbaijan in the multipolar world: opportunities and challenges” has hosted in Palazzo Rondinini, Rome.
The event organized by the Institute of International Relations.
An opening speech was delivered by President of the Institute of International Relations in Rome Stefano Silvestri.
The conference brought together member of Milli Majlis Sevinj Fataliyeva, Representative of the Centre for Strategic Studies (SAM), chief editor of Caucasus International Zaur Shiriyev, executive director of the NATO International School in Azerbaijan Huseyn Panahov, ICG Caucasus Project Coordinator Sabina Freiser, Carnegie Endowment Thomas de Waal, Heritage expert Ariel Cohen, Director of the Economic Policy Research Foundation of Turkey (TEPAV) Burcu Gültekin Punsmann, analyst at Rome`s Institute of International Affairs Nicolo Sartori, as well as, researcher at the International Peace Research Institute in Oslo, Norway Pavel Baev.
The conference included a panel on topic “Transition in Azerbaijan: security, democracy and development”, “Azerbaijan and Regional Security” and “Azerbaijan in a multipolar world.”
The participants also exchanged views on the Armenia-Azerbaijan Nagorno-Karabakh conflict, Azerbaijan`s foreign and domestic policy, regional security issues, and progress achieved in the field of human rights and fundamental freedoms.
