RUSSIAN MOSLEMS MARK 100TH ANNIVERSARY OF MOSCOW CATHEDRAL MOSQUE
At the invitation of the organizers, the meeting was attended by Chairman of the State Committee of the Azerbaijan Republic on Working with Religious Structures Rafik Aliyev and Ambassador Plenipotentiary and Extraordinary of Azerbaijan to Russian Ramiz Rizayev.
Opening the meeting, Chairman of the Council of Muftis of Russia Ravil Gaynuddin read out the congratulation message of Russian President Vladimir Putin.
Chairman Gaynuddin described the 100th Anniversary of the Moscow Cathedral Mosque as the greatest holiday in the history of Russian Moslems. No events of such significance have taken place for the 14th centuries of Islam in Russia.
Public and political figures noted addressing the meeting that today, the Moscow cathedral Mosque, like in the past, serves good and mercy, and brings up its parish to tolerance and patriotism.
Chairman of the State Committee of the Azerbaijan Republic on Working with Religious Structures Rafik Aliyev told AzerTAj reporter that the jubilee is of great importance for Moslems of Moslems of Russia and the former Soviet Union as whole. This event, according to him, has a great positive impact not only on strengthening interstate relations but also the process of rapprochement of the peoples.
An international conference “Moslems for Peace and Harmony”, holiday worship service, homily of Mufti Sheik Ravil Gaynuddin on the theme “Islam - Religion of Peace” and meeting at the Mosque, and laying memorial foundation stone for new building of Mosque are also expected in the framework of the event.
