SESSION OF NATO SCIENTIFIC COMMITTEE COMMENCED IN BAKU
Deputy secretary general of the Alliance Mr. Jean Furne opened the action arranged in Azerbaijan within the NATO week, correspondent of AzerTAj reported.
President of ANAS, academician Mahmud Karimov in his remarks has told: “Carrying out in Baku the next session of Scientific Committee of the NATO is not casually. Scientific sphere is one of priority directions of our cooperation with the NATO. Rendering the Azerbaijan scientists financial assistance, the NATO makes important contribution to preservation and strengthening of scientific and technical potential of our Republic.
Having reminded about the attention and care shown by the Azerbaijan state to science, scientists, and also strengthening of material base of ANAS, M. Karimov has emphasized: “Despite of it, the financial assistance of the various international organizations is necessary for strengthening scientific potential in our country, realization of programs of republican value for us. In this sense, we assign great hopes for cooperation with the NATO. Now, at financial support of the Alliance, within the framework of the “Partnership for Peace” program, the Azerbaijan scientists have already finished one project and now work on the two other projects. It has been for a year that there is functioning a satellite information-communication network created under the project of the NATO “Virtual Silk Road”. Last year, at financial support of Scientific Committee, the institutes ANAS have carried out 5 international seminars. On the basis of small grants of the NATO, were carried out scientific researches. Scholars of the Republic widely use grants and for the international scientific trips. For prevention of "brain drain" the new integration program of the NATO directed on rendering assistance to the young scientist after returning of them home from scientific business trips began.
President of ANAS also has listed the basic scientific directions on priority for our Republic to spheres of cooperation with the NATO.
Mr. Jean Furne, the ambassador of Turkey in our country, the coordinator between the NATO and Azerbaijan Ahmed Unal Chevikez attended the session.
