Strict diets lead to alcoholism, scientists say

Baku, September 1 (AZERTAC). American scientists believe that strict diet can cause development of alcoholism. Professionals within ten years studied the effect of diet on the lifestyle of volunteers.

For this period, scientists have observed 1340 volunteers, and the results were pretty predictable.

Diet gave the desired result only in a small percentage of cases.

For the most part, food restrictions lead to health problems.

Some volunteers acquire a dependence on alcohol. Diet, limited in 900 calories a day, increases the craving for alcohol by 30 percent, which would eventually develop into a real alcoholism.

People, who never resorted to severe restrictions in food, had the craving for alcohol is much lower. Perhaps it's the palsy, which gives alcoholic beverages.

Diet is stressful for the whole body, and alcohol is a way out of a stressful situation. At least, the majority of people sitting on a strict diet confirm it.
