Ukraine’s Irpin marks 103rd anniversary of Zarifa Aliyeva

On April 28, a solemn event was held in Irpin, Ukraine, to mark the 103rd anniversary of the birth of prominent Azerbaijani ophthalmologist Academician Zarifa Aliyeva.
Participants first paid tribute and laid flowers at Zarifa Aliyeva’s bust.
In his remarks, Seymur Mardaliyev, Azerbaijani Ambassador to Ukraine, briefed participants on Zarifa Aliyeva’s life path, while also highlighting Azerbaijan–Ukraine friendly relations and Azerbaijan’s involvement in the restoration of Irpin.
Angela Makeeva, Acting Mayor of Irpin, said that Zarifa Aliyeva is always remembered with love both in Azerbaijan and in Ukraine.
Subsequently, students of the city’s “Linguist” Lyceum No. 12 named after Academician Zarifa Aliyeva recited poems and performed songs in Azerbaijani.
The event continued with a tree-planting campaign initiated by the Azerbaijani Embassy in Ukraine and SOCAR Energy Ukraine in the city’s Friendship Park, also named after the prominent Azerbaijani ophthalmologist.
