UN-hosted conference highlights Azerbaijan’s ASAN Khidmet model

Azerbaijan’s ASAN Khidmet model has been presented at the United Nations (UN) Conference on Sustainable Development Goal 16 (SDG 16), held at the UN Headquarters in New York.
Held under the theme “Driving Transformation and Coordinated Action for Sustainable Development,” the event was jointly organized by the Permanent Mission of Italy to the UN, the UN Department of Economic and Social Affairs (UN DESA), and the International Development Law Organization (IDLO).
Addressing the conference, Ulvi Mehdiyev, Chairman of the State Agency for Public Service and Social Innovations under the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan, briefed participants on the reforms implemented in the country under the leadership of President Ilham Aliyev to promote citizen-oriented public administration, the achievements in delivering accessible and inclusive public services, and the role of the ASAN Khidmet model in advancing SDG 16.
He noted that the model contributes to ensuring transparency and accountability in public service delivery, enhancing citizen satisfaction and institutional efficiency, and supporting the development of strong institutions and an inclusive society.
During the visit, the Azerbaijani delegation also held bilateral meetings with Italy’s Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation and Kenya’s Minister of Public Service, Human Capital Development and Special Programmes.
The meetings reviewed the ASAN Khidmet model and discussed prospects for future cooperation.
Tofig Musayev, Azerbaijan’s Permanent Representative to the UN, also attended the meetings.
