UN POPULATIONS FUND’S REGIONAL DIRECTOR VISITING BAKU
On August 23, in the State Committee on problems of women took place a meeting with the representative of the Populations Fund of the United Nations (UNFPA) in Turkey, regional director on Azerbaijan, Georgia and Armenia Ms. Anna-Birgette Albrektsen. As correspondent of AzerTAj informs, Chairperson of State Committee Zahra Guliyeva in detail spoke at the meeting about position of women in the Republic, having emphasized, that after the Decree of our national leader Heydar Aliyev “On realization of the state woman policy in the Azerbaijan Republic”, the state to pay more attention to the problems of women. Having noted value of cooperation of committee with structures of the United Nations, the Chairperson has emphasized, that these connections become even stronger.
Ms. Anna – Birgette Albrektsen ascertained that discrimination to sexual attribute, violence over women are the basic problem for all states of the world, having emphasized importance of cooperation of the Populations Fund of the United Nations with the separate organizations in elimination of the said problems.
Also present was at the meeting the senior adviser of UN Population Fund on Azerbaijan Jamila Karimova has expressed hope for participation of State Committee with all programs of the Fund.
