USA- AZERBAIJAN WORKING GROUP OF ECONOMIC COOPERATION TO GATHER IN BAKU
The delegation of the government of Azerbaijan includes employees of the Ministries of Finance, foreign affairs, taxes, and economic development, National Bank, the State Customs Committee. The US delegation is to be headed by the coordinator of the Agency for Assistance to Europe and Eurasia, ambassador Carlos Pascal. The delegation also of the United States includes ambassador Reno Harnish, director of the Agency for Assistance to Azerbaijan William Makkinni, employees of the State Department, departments of the finance, trade, Agency of Trade and Development, Corporation of external private investments. At the session, discussed are expected the issues of macroeconomic policy, expansion of assortment in manufacture, reforms in power sector, trading and investment climate.
The Working Group (WG) will consider the program of the US assistance, and discuss available problems and difficulties, development of bilateral cooperation and way of assistance to reforms in Azerbaijan.
It has to be reminded that the mentioned event is the 8th assembly of the Working Group. It carries out meetings twice a year, in Baku and Washington. This structure has been created in 2000. Then, Minister of Finance Avaz Alakbarov and ambassador William Taylor have signed the memorandum concerning cooperation in this area. The previous, 7th session of Working Group was held in February 2004 in Washington.
