VI MEETING OF COUNCIL OF FOREIGN MINISTERS OF GUUAM MEMBER STATES
The meeting participants discussed the implementation of the resolutions of the Council’s and GUUAM-USA meetings held on 26 September 2003, and approved a number of documents.
They also pointed out the necessity to prompt implementation of the domestic procedures for coming into effect of the documents signed during GUUAM Yalta Summits in 2000-2003. The Ministers called on the states, which had not yet ratified the “Agreement on Establishment of Free Trade Zone Between GUUAM Members” and “Temporary Regulations on GUUAM Information Office” to speed up the ratification procedure.
The participants also stressed the importance of advancing joint initiatives to assert common positions of the GUUAM countries in the international organizations, particularly, in relation to settlement of the existing conflicts on the base of observance of territorial integrity of the counties.
The Ministers positively appraised the Plan of Actions of GUUAM Members on Development of Cooperation in the Framework of the United Nations in 2004 signed in Baku in 22-23 March 2004.
They especially emphasized the important of close cooperation with USA for elaboration of concrete projects, and noted the US government’s active support for the GUUAM initiatives. The Council expressed concernment in cooperation with the European Union with respect to implementation of GUUAM projects, and in continuation of the GUUAM-EU and GUUAM-EU-USA dialogues.
