Young Azerbaijani girl wins chess championship in Germany

Sona Bashirova, a young Azerbaijani chess prodigy representing Berlin’s “SV Empor Berlin” club, has clinched the German championship title in the under-10 girls’ category (U10w).
Sona secured the title with a draw in the fiercely contested final round, earning 7 out of 9 possible points. The tournament featured 42 talented players from across Germany’s federal states, all of whom advanced through rigorous qualifiers. Sona’s steady and confident performance shone throughout the competition.
This triumph grants Sona not only the German championship title but also qualification for the World and European Championships for under-10 players, where she will represent Germany internationally.
