11TH EURASIAN ECONOMIC SUMMIT KICKS OFF IN ISTANBUL
The 11th Eurasian Economic Summit organized by the Marmara Group for Strategic and Social Research Foundation commenced May 1 at the Istanbul Chamber of Commerce. The meeting brought together representatives of 34 countries.
Summit participants observed a moment to commemorate founder of the Turkish Republic Mustafa Kamal Ataturk and national leader of Azerbaijan Heydar Aliyev who was the honorary chairman of the Marmara Group.
President of the World Chambers Federation Rona Yircali provided information about the agenda.
Turkish President Abdullah Gul`s message of congratulation was read out at the event. The message highlighted a number of issues including global warming, fight against terrorism, importance of this meeting to ensure economic progress.
Chief of the President Administration`s department for socio-political affairs Ali Hasanov read out President Ilham Aliyev`s message to participants of the summit.
Chairman of the Marmara Group for Strategic and Social Research Foundation Akkan Suver greeted the government officials including Ali Hasanov, Deputy Speaker of the Milli Majlis Valeh Alasgarov, SOCAR first Vice-President Khoshbakht Yusifzade, Chairman of the Turkish Parliament Koksal Toptan, State Minister Kurshad Tuzmen, ninth President of the Turkish Republic Suleyman Demirel, former Presidents of Romania Ion Iliescu and Emil Konstantinesku, former President of Bulgaria Jelyu Jelev.
