The Novruz holiday was solemnly celebrated at the Cultural Center of the Embassy of Azerbaijan in France, jointly organized by the Embassy and the Ministry of Culture. The festive event featured a rich program reflecting national customs, traditions, and spiritual values.
In her remarks, Azerbaijan’s Ambassador to France, Leyla Abdullayeva, provided detailed information about the philosophy of Novruz and its ancient customs and traditions. She noted that Novruz is one of Azerbaijan’s oldest and most beloved holidays, embodying the nation’s national and spiritual values.
Leyla Abdullayeva emphasized that for centuries, Novruz has been celebrated as a symbol of nature’s awakening, spiritual purity, and equality. Based on the ancient solar calendar, the holiday—marking the beginning of spring and the new year—promotes peace, reconciliation, and solidarity among peoples.
During the event, the Ambassador also touched upon Azerbaijan’s current stability, noting that despite the complex situation in the region, the country is celebrating Novruz in an atmosphere of security and stability. She highlighted that, thanks to the policy implemented by President Ilham Aliyev, Azerbaijan has become a space of peace, trust, and dialogue, which is also of significant importance for the international community.
As part of the event, information was shared about Azerbaijan–France bilateral relations. Traditional Novruz trays (xonça), reflecting national customs, were displayed, immersing participants in a festive atmosphere. The Ambassador, dressed in national attire, demonstrated her commitment to the people’s values and traditions.
The holiday program continued with a concert. Accompanied by Rovshan Gurbanov (tar) and Toghrul Asadullayev (kamancha), vocalists Ravana Gurbanova and Ravan Gachayev performed national mugham and folk music pieces.
