7th edition of DokuBaku International Documentary Film Festival ends

The closing ceremony and awarding ceremony of the winners took place at the Nizami Cinema Center. More than 60 films from 29 countries were presented during the festival.
This year, the main theme of the festival was "CosmoDarwinism: The Age of Aquarius", and most of the films presented were dedicated to the views of documentary filmmakers on the challenges of the
time. The sponsors of the festival were the Ministry of Culture of the Republic of Azerbaijan, the Nizami Cinema Center, the embassies of Germany and France, etc.
The winner of the festival in the category of the best international short film is "Piblokto" by Anastasia Shubina and Timofey Glini (Russian Federation). The film "Hadis" directed by Nazrin Agamaliyeva is the
best Azerbaijani short film. The film "Tunes of Sanatorium" directed by Leyla Ganbarli's was awarded the best short film nomination in the "DokuDarwin" nomination, and Indian director Nistha Jain's film
"Golden Thread" was awarded the best foreign film nomination in this category.
Danish director Michael Graversen's "Mr. "Graversen" was recognized as the best featured film, and for the film "After the Bridge" by Italian directors Davide Rizzo and Marzia Toscano was awarded in
the best "No Main" category.
The following films were awarded special prizes of the jury in various categories: "Dance on the Edge of a Volcano" by Lebanese director Cyril Aris, "No Winter Holidays" by Rajan Kathet and Sunir Pandey
(Nepal).
Three Azerbaijani films: "Behind the Fences" by Azad Alizadeh, "Dog Doc" by Dadash Musayev and Sitara Ibrahimbeyli, and "Hear the Voices from House" by Sabina Abubekirova were also awarded with
a special prize by the judges.
It should be noted that along with the announcement of the winners, special "iCyborg" awards were also presented to the masters of Azerbaijani film art, Rahman Badalov and Togrul Juvarli, for their
special services in cinematography.
Founded in Baku in 2017, the festival is the first independent international documentary film festival that aims to showcase documentaries from around the world. The festival also aims to discover new
faces and support local documentary filmmakers.
