Azerbaijan, Lithuania discuss cooperation issues

Azerbaijan’s Minister of Foreign Affairs Jeyhun Bayramov has met with President of the Republic of Lithuania Gitanas Nausėda.
During the bilateral meeting, the pair discussed the topical issues of bilateral cooperation agenda between Azerbaijan and Lithuania.
Following the bilateral meeting, an expanded meeting with the participation of Chief Adviser on Foreign Policy to the President of Lithuania Asta Skaisgirytė was held.
Minister Jeyhun Bayramov noted that there is an effective bilateral agenda of cooperation between the two countries in the political, economic, trade, investment, energy security, agricultural, educational, humanitarian and other spheres, including multilateral cooperation agenda within the framework of international organizations. The FM also underlined the importance of reciprocal visits in the development of relations as well as political dialogue between two countries.
Noting that Lithuania supports the projects implemented in the field of communications within the framework of the European Union (EU), FM Bayramov pointed out that the importance of the Caspian region, including the Middle Corridor, is increasing even more.
Minister Bayramov provided insight into the current situation in the region in the post-conflict period, the large-scale restoration and reconstruction works carried out in the liberated territories, the efforts to advance the peace agenda between Azerbaijan and Armenia, the current challenges, including the threat of landmines.
The Lithuanian side expressed interest in using the existing potential for further development of relations with Azerbaijan. It was noted with satisfaction that the Eastern Partnership program of the EU plays an important platform for the development of cooperation, and Azerbaijan is as a reliable partner, especially in the field of energy security. Commending the peace-building efforts in the region, the Lithuanian side stressed the importance of commitment to the current normalization process and said that Lithuania supports these efforts.
During the meeting, the sides also exchanged views on other issues of mutual interest.
