Akkan Suver: ECO leaders’ peace messages from Khankendi filled us with pride

“A few days ago, we were deeply saddened to witness the inhumane treatment of Azerbaijanis in Russia. The murder of two Azerbaijani citizens in Yekaterinburg was met with great regret and sorrow. However, against the backdrop of these events, the 17th Summit of the Economic Cooperation Organization (ECO) held in Azerbaijan’s historic land of Khankendi, where leaders of member states delivered messages of unity and peace to the world, filled us all with pride,” said Akkan Suver, President of the Marmara Group Strategic and Social Research Foundation, in a statement to AZERTAC.
He noted that this significant meeting, far from being a display of defiance, will be remembered as an example of peace-loving and inclusive friendship.
“The gathering of our leaders at this summit was not only a demonstration of goodwill but also a display of balance. It allowed us to feel the strength of solidarity free from competition. The event in Khankendi was significant not only for the leaders’ display of strong unity but also for providing an opportunity to closely recognize the values Azerbaijan upholds. At a time when Azerbaijan is expressing its legitimate demands to Armenia and awaiting an agreement, hosting such a summit underscores Azerbaijan’s high prestige in the South Caucasus,” said the foundation’s president.
