ANDREY DENISOV: “ILHAM ALIYEV – OUTSTANDING STATESMAN WHO WON HUGE SYMPATHY IN RUSSIA”
“President of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev enjoys huge human sympathy in Russia apart from the fact that he is an outstanding statesman who contributes much to development of Russia-Azerbaijan relationships,” said first Deputy Foreign Minister of Russia Andrey Denisov in an interview to AZERTAG correspondent.
Asked about how Russia-Azerbaijan relations will develop after the presidential elections in Russia, deputy minister said that the political course for cooperation with Azerbaijan established by President of Russia Vladimir Putin would be continued especially since the Head of Azerbaijani State Ilham Aliyev and presidential candidate Dmitriy Medvedev are the people of the same generation. These are politicians of a new wave, and this is why we do not doubt that they will get on well with each other, and relationships will be developing positively.
Andrey Denisov said presidential candidate, first Vice-Premier Dmitriy Medvedev will be participating in the informal CIS summit in Moscow on February 22.
“It is a good opportunity for the presidential candidate to introduce himself to the Heads of Commonwealth States. Although, Medvedev, as the first Vice-Premier, is a pretty famous person, and well known in the CIS countries. He met with all Presidents anyway,” said the Russian diplomat.
