“Azerbaijan and EU: a way forward” conference held in Belgium
Baku, March 9 (AZERTAC). A conference entitled “Azerbaijan and EU: a way forward” has been held at the European Policy Centre, in Brussels, Belgium.
The event brought together experts of Azerbaijan and the EU, as well as Deputy Director of the Center for Strategic Studies under the President of Azerbaijan Gulshan Pashayeva, European Union`s special representative for South Caucasus Philippe Lefort, European External Action Service representative Denis Daniilidis, Director of non-governmental organization LINKS Denis Sammut.
The participants exchanged views on development prospects of relations between Azerbaijan and the EU, as well as settlement of the Armenia-Azerbaijan, Nagorno-Karabakh conflict.
On solving the conflict, Gulshan Pashayeva stressed the importance of the return of people who was removed from their homeland.
Philippe Lefort stressed necessity of solving Armenia-Azerbaijan, Nagorno-Karabakh conflict. He also expressed the importance of observing the Madrid principles and changing of current status quo for the Nagorno-Karabakh of both sides.
Gulshan Pashayeva and Employee of the Foreign policy analysis Department of CSS Zaur Shiriyev, as part of the visit, held bilateral meetings at the Egmont Institute and Security and Protection Agency and discussed further cooperation opportunities.
