AZERBAIJAN-EGYPT FRIENDSHIP PARK AND HEYDAR ALIYEV MONUMENT INAUGURATED IN EGYPT
A ceremony to open Azerbaijan-Egypt Friendship Park and to unveil a monument to nationwide leader Heydar Aliyev erected here was held Thursday in Qanater city in Egypt’s Qalyubia Governorate.
The ceremony was attended by Egyptian International Cooperation Minister Faiza Abu el-Naga, Qanater Governor Adli Husein and members of general public as well as Governor of Azerbaijan’s Absheron region Zakir Farajov, Azeri ambassador to Egypt Faig Bagirov, employees of the diplomatic corps and representatives of Azerbaijan’s community.
The participants laid flowers at the monument which stands 3 meters in height.
It was made by sculptors Salhab Mammadov, Akif Asgarov and Natig Aliyev.
The official inauguration ceremony was followed by a concert by Egyptian musicians and singers.
The participants of the ceremony also inaugurated the Azerbaijan Street that park is laying on.
The Azerbaijani delegation presented a bronze bust of Egypt’s First Lady Suzanne Mubarak to the library after her name, which is located in the park.
On Wednesday, Zakir Farajov met with Suzanne Mubarak to discuss bilateral relations.
