AZERBAIJAN FIELD HOCKEY FEDERATION TO REPORT REFEREE BIAS TO FIH

Azerbaijan`s field hockey authorities said they will make a formal complaint to the sport`s governing body, FIH, concerning an alleged referee bias which prevented the national women`s team from qualifying for the Beijing Olympics at a recent qualification event in Baku.

Azerbaijan`s claims came after the country failed to book a place at August`s Beijing Games thanks to a 2-3 defeat from Spain in the final of the Baku qualifier.

During a press conference on Tuesday, Secretary General of the Azerbaijan Field Hockey Federation Adil Pashayev and national coach Tahir Zaman said the referee of the match made deliberate mistakes against Azerbaijan which were the major obstacle to its deserved victory.
