Azerbaijan keen on strengthening relations with Andorra
Baku, June 4 (AZERTAC). Foreign Affairs Minister of the Government of Andorra Gilbert Saboya Sunyé who is visiting Azerbaijan has today met with the Azerbaijani Parliament Speaker Ogtay Asadov.
“It’s the first high-level visit between the two countries after the establishment of diplomatic relations between Azerbaijan and Andorra” said Azerbaijani Speaker.
“The visits of the businessmen of Andorra and organization of the business-forum in Azerbaijan will play great role in expansion of economic and trade turnover between our countries. Azerbaijan is the most dynamically developing country of the region.
The volume of investments in Azerbaijan’s economy is growing year by year. Therefore, we consider that visits of the businessmen of Andorra will be very effective” Asadov underlined.
The Speaker also noted the importance of the agreement signed between Azerbaijan’s National Confederation of Entrepreneurs and the relevant authorities of Andorra.
Asadov also stressed role of the parliaments in development of intergovernmental relations, saying that there are great opportunities for expansion of relations between legislative bodies.
Asadov gave detailed information on Armenia-Azerbaijan, Nagorno Karabakh conflict.
Asadov expressed his hope that Andorra will support Azerbaijan’s fair position in solution of this conflict.
Gilbert Saboya Sunyé expressed his satisfaction with the visit to Azerbaijan and thanked for high hospitality.
“Azerbaijan is really a developing country and there are extensive opportunities for comprehensive development of relations” said the Minister.
The Foreign Minister underlined the great role of the Parliaments of the two countries in strengthening of inter-governmental relations and highly estimated the cooperation of the both countries’ parliamentarians on the international organizations.
“Andorra began to preside over the UN Security Council from November of this year to the May of the 2013. We hope that our cooperation will help us to achieve the goals which we put forward on the sidelines of this organization” Saboya Sunyé said.
“We support the solution of Nagorno-Karabakh conflict on the basis of the principles and norms of international law”, the head of the Department of Foreign Affairs of Andorra emphasized.
The sides also exchanged views on a wide range of other issues of mutual interest.
