AZERBAIJAN SPEAKER MEETS BULGARIAN PRESIDENT
Speaker of Azerbaijan`s Parliament Ogtay Asadov met Tuesday Bulgarian President Georgi Parvanov as part of his official visit to the country.
The Bulgarian President reminded his recent meeting with President Ilham Aliyev in Baku, saying it left a lasting impression upon him and was of great importance for both countries.
He said he hopes the Bulgaria-Azerbaijan relationships would further develop, adding his country is keen on energy cooperation with Azerbaijan.
The Bulgarian leader said his country is ready to render every assistance to Azerbaijan in its integration into the European Union. “We have a representative in the EU and we are ready to raise and solve any question Azerbaijan is interested in”, the President noted.
The Azeri Speaker said his country is pursuing the policy of integration into Europe, stressing the importance of bringing the domestic laws into compliance with European legislation. “From this point of view, we have to learn from Bulgaria`s experience”, Ogtay Asadov said.
He noted Azerbaijan is playing an essential role in providing Europe’s energy security. He stressed that Azerbaijan is now among the world`s leading oil-producing countries.
“The issue of the Caspian Gas pipeline is topical today, and we believe that this project will be realized soon”, Asadov stated.
The Azerbaijani Speaker pointed out that Bulgaria`s becoming a member of friendship group of GUAM Organization for Democracy and Economic Development is worth of esteem.
