AZERBAIJAN-UAE BUSINESS FORUM HELD IN BAKU
Azerbaijan-United Arab Emirates (UAE) Business Forum organized by the Azerbaijan Export and Investment Promotion Foundation (AZPROMO) was held Monday in Baku. About 20 UAE and 70 Azerbaijani businessmen attended the event. Heydar Babayev, Economic Development Minister of Azerbaijan briefed on the country’s successes gained due to national leader Heydar Aliyev’s social-economic development strategy which has been successfully continuing by President Ilham Aliyev. He said Azerbaijan for GDP growth is one of the leader countries in the world. According to him, significant work has been done in Azerbaijan to improve investment environment and to develop entrepreneurship.
As stated, there are favorable conditions for developing economic relations and mutual investment exchange between Azerbaijan and UAE. Azerbaijan is curious about expanding cooperation in non-oil sector with UAE, stressed Mr. Babayev.
UAE Minister of Foreign Trade Sheikha Lubna bint Khalid Al Qasimi noted trade relations between Azerbaijan and UAE has recently seen huge development. She stressed trade turnover between the two countries has reached $ 318 million. She also added that there are more than 3 thousands businessmen in Azerbaijan.
Attending the event, other UAE officials noted great opportunities exist for improving cooperation between Azerbaijan and UAE in non-oil, agricultural and tourism sectors.
The event also heard report by AZPROMO president Emil Majidov on investment environment and business opportunities in Azerbaijan. .
