Azerbaijani Foreign Minister Elmar Mammadyarov met Saturday with U.S. Congressman Adam Schiff to discuss Azerbaijan-US cooperation, and regional and international issues.

Schiff, a member of the U.S. House of Representatives from California`s 29th district, praised Azerbaijan`s contribution to diversification of energy sources.

He also highly appreciated the country`s involvement in peacekeeping operations in Iraq and Afghanistan.

On Azerbaijan`s conflict with Armenia over the Nagorno-Karabakh, Mammadyarov said resolution of the dispute is in the interests of Armenia itself, as it will help develop situation in the whole South Caucasian region.
