AZERBAIJANI FOREIGN MINISTER VISITS LIBYA
Azerbaijani delegation headed by Elmar Mammadyarov, Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Azerbaijan on February 20 paid a two-day visit to Socialist People’s Libyan Arab Jamahiriya.
In the first day of the meeting Azerbaijani Minister met with Secretary of the General People’s Committee for Foreign Liaison and International Cooperation Abdulrahman Shalqam, Khazar Ibrahim, press secretary of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Azerbaijan said.
Libyan official expressed his confidence that the Azerbaijani Minister’s visit to his country would have positive influence on the development of bilateral relations between the two countries.
Elmar Mammadyarov, in his turn, extended gratitude to his counterpart for the invitation and invited him to Azerbaijan.
During the meeting, focused on international and regional issues, Azerbaijani Minister highly assessed Libya’s role as a member of the UN Security Council, as well as expressed his gratitude to this country for supporting Azerbaijan’s fair position on the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict.
The sides underlined the importance of relations in education, oil, tourism, military and security spheres.
The meetings of Azerbaijani delegation will last till February 21.
