Azerbaijani-US Friendship Day marked in Texas
Washington, March 8 (AZERTAC). An Azerbaijani delegation led by chairman of the Azerbaijani Parliament`s international and interparliamentary relations committee, Samad Seyidov, have held several meetings with representatives of legislative and executive bodies of the US State of Texas in Austin.
With participation of the Azerbaijani delegation which includes MPs Sevinj Fataliyeva, Sahiba Gafarova, Asim Mollozade, SOCAR Vice President Khalig Mammadov, as well as Ambassador Elin Suleymanov, a resolution supporting the current state of relations between Azerbaijan and Texas and exchange of bilateral visits was adopted at the both chambers of the Texas legislative body.
Samad Seyidov noted that it`s mutually beneficial to continue federal and local cooperation between the United States and Azerbaijan, and the bilateral visits have a special role in the deepening of this relationship.
Ambassador Elin Suleymanov, in turn, noted that relations between Texas and Azerbaijan were established before the restoration of the country`s independence.
At the end of the event, member of the House of Representatives Myra Crowner presented Suleymanov the flag of Texas, once waived on the Congress building. In turn, the diplomat presented the Azerbaijani flag to Crowner.
Director at SOCAR USA Office Rauf Mammadov and President of the Houston-Baku Sister City Association (HBSCA) Irada Akhundova were present at the meetings.
