Azerbaijan’s Central Scientific Library, Istanbul University Library discuss digitalization of rare books

As part of his visit to Türkiye, Huseyn Huseynov, Director of the Central Scientific Library of the Azerbaijan National Academy of Sciences met with Sonay Tahmaz Kaleci, the Head of Istanbul University Library (IU).
Huseyn Huseynov provided insight into the projects and initiatives implemented by Azerbaijan’s library, electronic services, international relations, as well as familiarized himself with the funds of Istanbul University library and the available possibilities for digitalization of rare books.
According to him, the Central Scientific Library’s consistent and purposeful activities towards digitalization of rare publications and making them available to the general public are another example of the protection of cultural heritage.
He also added that mutual cooperation would be beneficial between the two countries.
Huseyn Huseynov also held extensive discussions on the opportunities arising from the application of technologies used at Istanbul University for the digitization of rare books at the Central Scientific Library.
Sonay Tahmaz Kaleci highlighted the opportunities for future collaborations.
