Azerbaijan`s FM meets Secretary General of GUAM

Baku, December 20 (AZERTAC). Azerbaijan`s Minister of Foreign Affairs Elmar Mammadyarov on Wednesday met Secretary General of GUAM, Ambassador Valery Chechelashvili.

They discussed the current state of the relations between Azerbaijan and GUAM, as well as the projects carrying out in the region and within the organization and GUAM`s cooperation with the international organizations.

The sides also highlighted the decision of the UN General Assembly on cooperation with GUAM and the agreement between GUAM and the UN on draft resolution "Protracted conflicts in the GUAM area and their implications to international peace, security and development".

Valeri Chechelashvili, in turn, noted that GUAM, within its project, planned to hold a three-day international seminar on the fight against money laundering in March 2013, in Baku.

The seminar, to be arranged by financial support of the UN Office on Drugs and Crime and the United States, will involve the delegations of GUAM, the EU, the US, as well as representatives of Europol, Interpol and the other international and regional organizations.
