Quotes from Azerbaijani artistic gymnasts Eldar Safarov and Petro Paknyuk after winning bronze medals in the men's team final at the National Gymnastics Arena on Monday.
Eldar Safarov (AZE) - bronze
On winning team bronze:
"We were expecting this result. We believed in ourselves, that we could compete for medals and show our best. It could have been better. Due to injury, we could not get first or second place."
On his personal performance:
"My performance was 60/40. I injured my shoulder a month ago. I had an injury in my leg, as well. I can do better."
Petro Paknyuk (AZE) - bronze
On winning team bronze:
"We were competing for first or second place, but third place is also a good result. We fought for this place with our blood and sweat."
On the effect of injury on his performance:
"On the first day (of the team final, Sunday) I got an injury. But we carried on and showed our abilities. We made almost no mistakes, excluding my injury which affected the results.
"It is gymnastics, and it is a very traumatic kind of sport. We did not get this medal by chance. We fought for it."
